James Carr, MD, is Chair of Radiology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, USA. He is the Frederick John Bradd and William Kennedy Professor of Radiology and Professor of Radiology, Medicine & Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Radiology in Dublin, Ireland and fellowship training in Cardiovascular MRI and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University. He has served on national, international and institutional committees related to clinical practice, research and education, including those of the American Heart Association, the American College of Radiology, the Society of Cardiovascular MR and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine. He is a past president of the Society for Magnetic Resonance Angiography (SMRA) and the Society for Cardiovascular MRI (SCMR). Dr. Carr is principal investigator or co‐investigator on several industry and National Institute of Health grants. His research focuses on the development and clinical evaluation of techniques for cardiac and vascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and he has authored or co‐authored over 350 publications on the topic.
