Dr. Lisa McNamee

Co-Founder, Space Medicine Ireland

Dr. Lisa McNamee is a medical doctor with a special interest in aviation and space medicine. 

Dr. McNamee completed her undergraduate degree in Trinity College Dublin, medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and obtained her Masters degree from University College Dublin. She has completed the European Space Agency’s Space Physician Training Course and the University of Texas’ Principles of Aerospace Medicine Training Course. She currently holds the rank of Commandant in the Irish Defence Forces. She is a cofounder of Space Medicine Ireland. She is Medical Logistics Lead at  the Irish Paramedicine Education and Research Network (IPERN), a board member of Women in Medicine in Ireland and Primary Care Sustainability Lead for Irish doctors for the Environment. She is one of the 2024 Women’s Space Awards winners in medicine and health. She was awarded the Anita Mantri PhD Award in Aerospace Medicine for leadership and outreach in the sector. She has developed a multi-lingual medical emergencies app and is an author of many academic and general audience articles.
