Brian Thornes

Brian’s background is as an orthopedic surgeon. He is best known for being the inventor of the original ankle TightRope®, which he licensed to Arthrex Inc. Brian has overseen the development of the X-Bolt hip fracture system, including participation in large randomized controlled trials. Commercial launch in the US for X-Bolt’s Pro-X1 trochanteric nailing system is planned for August 2024.

Brian graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1994, has a Masters in Surgery, Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (1998) and an MBA (TCD 2006).
