Samir Abboud, MD
Dr. Samir Abboud is Chief and founding member of the Division of Emergency Radiology in the Department of Radiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He studied physics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and subsequently earned his medical degree and Masters of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland, where he was also a research fellow at the FDA with an emphasis on medical physics. He specialized in radiology and completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, after which he was recruited to create the division of Emergency Radiology in 2019. He has published articles on topics including the physics of CT image generation, signal detection and image quality. His current focus is optimization of imaging benefit across a multi-hospital system emergency patient population, with a strong interest in the expanding role of AI in radiology.
More importantly, Dr Abboud is a loving husband and father to two young girls and, when time permits, a happy sailor on the blue waters of Lake Michigan.
