Professor Deborah McNamara is President of RCSI and Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. She qualified from Trinity College Dublin and completed surgical training in Ireland and France, specializing in surgical management of colorectal cancer. She has extensive experience in all areas of general and colorectal surgery as well as endoscopy.

She was Programme Director of the National Higher Surgical Training Programme in General Surgery (2010-2013) and Clinical Director for Surgery at Beaumont Hospital (2014-2017). Her work as Chair of the Colorectal Cancer Guidelines and Clinical Leads groups of the Irish National Cancer Control Programme (2011-2024) lead to the publication of the first National Clinical Guidelines for colon and rectal cancer, endorsed by the Minister for Health as national policy. In 2017, she chaired the group that published the RCSI PROGRESS report, setting out an ambitious strategy to improve gender equality in surgery in Ireland. She served as Co-Lead of the National Clinical Programme for Surgery (2017-2024), leading large-scale healthcare improvement programmes in areas such as patient safety, operating theatre efficiency, surgical care pathways and models of care for surgical specialties. She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed research papers and has received national and international distinctions including the Patey Prize of the Surgical Research Society, the AWS Olga Jonasson Award, the Millin Lecture and Honorary Fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the American College of Surgeons.

Helen Calvey is a seasoned healthcare executive with over two decades of industry experience, primarily focused on hospital and healthcare management. Currently serving as a Board Member for HealthTech Ireland, Helen is deeply involved in advancing the landscape of health technology. HealthTech Ireland, an independent trade association, advocates for policies that support innovation and meet patient healthcare needs across Ireland. The association encompasses a broad range of member companies, from SMEs to multinational corporations, many of which engage in research, innovation, and manufacturing within the region. Helen’s expertise and leadership continue to contribute significantly to the evolution and support of health technology initiatives in Ireland.

Judi O’ Malley is a patient centric, customer focused and commercially driven CEO and Co Founder of Spiorad Medical. 

Judi began her career as a Clinical Vascular Physiologist with the national Health Service Executive HSE. She then went on to study IP Law with The Law Society Ireland and Project Management with Smurfit Business School.

Judi then moved to industry where she gained commercial experience in sales and marketing roles with leading cardiovascular multinationals, Medtronic, Abbott, and J&J  managing their portfolio across the UK and Ireland. It was here she saw a gap in the market for an efficient large French vascular closure device and formed Spiorad with the backing of her previous physician customers and end users of these devices.

Jeanne has over 35 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in management roles across R&D, Commercial and Business Development (BD) and Venture Investments.  She spent 11 years in Licensing and Acquisition (L&A), including Global Head of Scientific Licensing for Johnson & Johnson’s Pharmaceutical business, and before that as Director in the Business Development group at GlaxoSmithKline.

Jeanne spent nearly 10 years (2012-2022) as Vice President Venture Investment in J&J’s corporate venture fund, Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JJDC. During that period, she was based in London, leading investments across Europe in start-up and early stage life science companies in areas of strategic interest to J&J’s business sectors in Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology, Medical Devices and Consumer.  She represented JJDC on the Board of Directors of over a dozen companies, including Aelix Therapeutics, Asceneuron SA, Aviado Bio, Biocartis, Calypso Biotech, Inivata, Merus, Pulmocide, S-Biomedic, Syndesi, T-Rex.  Dr Bolger also represented JJDC’s LP investments in multiple Venture Capital Funds in UK and Europe as well as representing J&J’s interests in other funding vehicles including incubators and accelerators.

Professor Nuala Healy has been appointed Chair of Radiology at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. In her role, Professor Healy will lead RCSI’s academic Department of Radiology while providing patient care as a consultant radiologist at Beaumont Hospital.

Professor Healy completed her undergraduate medical training at University of Galway. Following basic surgical training, she undertook a lab-based MD and was awarded a Molecular Medicine Ireland Clinician Scientist Fellowship, and she also completed a master’s in clinical education at the University of Galway.

Her radiology training was undertaken at St James’ Hospital, Dublin, followed by a breast imaging fellowship at the Mater Hospital, Dublin. She moved to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK as a clinical fellow and was subsequently appointed as a breast and oncology radiologist.

Throughout her career, Prof. Healy has had multiple educational roles – from an early foundation as clinical lecturer and anatomy demonstrator for University of Galway, to more recently as Deputy Training Programme Director for Cambridge University Hospital radiology trainees.

She is the research lead for the British Society of Breast Radiology, a trustee of Symposium Mammographicum and chair of the organising committee for the Cambridge Conference on Breast Cancer imaging. She is member of the editorial board for Cancer Imaging, where she is editor of the breast section, and a member of the scientific editorial board of Insights into Imaging.

She is involved in multiple breast imaging studies, and her research interests include AI in radiology, novel techniques in breast imaging, MRI (including abbreviated breast MRI), surveillance and postoperative breast imaging, and novel ways of measuring bone health in women with a history of breast cancer.

Prof. Healy is chair of the organising committee for the Cambridge Conference on Breast Cancer Imaging. She also has a clear focus on issues around well-being and the contribution of role models and mentors in medicine.

Andrew’s vision for Personal Health is to become synonymous with the concept of exercise prescription in medical populations.

He founded Personal Health – Medical Exercise ClinicTM in February 2016. 7 years later the clinic has provided personalised exercise prescription for over 6,000 people online or in person, across corporate and medical populations.

Andrew’s background as a professional rugby player for 11 years heightened his awareness around the need for detailed, clinical rehabilitation processes.

This developed into a deep passion for ‘exercise as medicine’ and the physiological benefits of exercise in clinical populations.

He truly believes that exercise prescription should be a key part of all medical treatment plans.

Mary is a Chartered Psychologist (BPS), Author and Senior Practitioner Coach (EMCC) who has been working in the Leadership Development/Talent Management field for over 20 years. Her current role as Senior Executive Development Specialist with RCSI Centre for Positive Health Sciences involves working with senior leaders in the healthcare sector to develop their management, coaching and leadership capabilities through a range of executive development and academic programmes up to PhD level. Mary also leads a successful business psychology practice working in a range of sectors in the area of talent & leadership development.

Mary is passionate about leveraging the strengths of the Multigenerational Workplace and is a renowned key speaker on this topic. Her other research interests are Women in Leadership and Emotional Intelligence and Leadership.
Prior to joining RCSI, Mary was Head of Talent and Learning for Deloitte Ireland for 7 years.

Mary is an Accredited Senior Professional Executive Coach and Coach Assessor with the European Coaching & Mentoring Council (EMCC) and became an Accredited Coach Supervisor in 2023 (ICCS). Mary is the current Co-chair of Coaching Psychology Division of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and a council member of the Irish Institute of Training & Development.

In December 2019, Mary was one of 15 people awarded a ‘Coaching Hero Award’ by Minister of State for Higher Education from Kingstown College to mark her contribution to the coaching field in Ireland.
Mary’s doctoral research has been published as part of the book ‘Managing Professionals & other Smart People’ in 2015. Mary most recent book ‘Recruiting Talented Professionals’ was published in May 2021. Mary has recently been commissioned to write a book on ‘Emotional Intelligence & Dentistry’ due for publication in 2024.
